India today has the highest number of youths in its population, yet unemployment is high among them. One of the biggest reasons for this is that the skill gap in India has been increasing every day leading to the unemployability of the youths. The skills that are required by companies and the skills provided by the traditional educational methods are a mismatch; thus, the need to address this has become urgent from crucial.

Equipping Youth with Skills for Employment is an initiative by Prayatna on ‘Skilling and Employment’ among youth in Delhi NCR. A Youth Skilling Centre is set up to provide training on Banking Correspondence Course which is NSDC approved. The course consists of basic banking knowledge, basic IT, Personality Development, Communication, and work readiness to provide employability skills to the students.

50 students enrolled in the program are groomed, empowered, and counselled to prepare them for the professional work environment. Regular counselling sessions, industry exposure visits are organised to provide the best career path to the students. Placement drives to prominent industries are organised for the students to provide them employment opportunities in the banking and finance sector. 60% students enrolled in the programme landed up in their dream career with the average CTC of ₹1,59,000 per annum and the reaming students were guided towards the career options best suited with their skills which made it a tremendous success.
