Prayatna embarked on a journey to train 200 youth in fitness training to work as fitness trainers and personal trainers. The objective of the programme was to provide high quality fitness training to youth from marginalized communities to bridge the gap between lack of vocational training and a pre-covid booming job market in the fitness industry. The fitness curriculum which is a mix of theory and practical sessions was designed by Sports Education and Employment Development (SEED) to be implemented in an actual gym.
Unlike the traditional fitness courses, the programme took it a step further by providing the beneficiaries with basic English, IT and financial literacy training and soft skills training certified by NIIT Foundation. The beneficiaries were also provided with workshop on first aid and CPR to equip the beneficiaries holistically. The amalgamation of the supplement courses helped an average trainer to become a personal trainer in a few months.
By the end of the project, Prayatna successfully trained 214 beneficiaries, including 101 girls, who got enrolled and certified under the programme.
